COUNTY ORGANIZED: 1836 COUNTY NAMED FOR: Thomas Jefferson COUNTY SEATS: Two - Jefferson and Beaumont. COUNTY SEAT NAMED FOR: Beaumont is the maiden name of Mary Millard, the wife of Henry Millard on of the town's founders.
