COUNTY ORGANIZED: 1903 COUNTY NAMED FOR: Senator John H. Reagan, the first chairman of the Railroad Commission. COUNTY SEATS: Two - Stiles and Big Lake COUNTY SEAT NAMED FOR: A water-filled depression called Big Lake, a landmark holding the only fresh water between the Concho rivers and Comanche Springs at Fort Stockton. COURTHOUSES: Three - Stiles 1904, 1911; Big Lake 1927 STANDING: Two - 1911 courthouse in Stiles built of stone, and the 1927 Texas Renaissance courthouse in Big Lake built of brick.
