COUNTY ORGANIZED: 1850 COUNTY NAMED FOR: General Edward H. Tarrant, military commander and Texas Ranger. COUNTY SEATS: Two - Birdville and Fort Worth COUNTY SEAT NAMED FOR: General William Jenkins Worth, hero of the Mexican War. COURTHOUSES: Six -1850 and 1856 in Birdville; 1860, 1876, 1878, and 1895 in Fort Worth. STANDING: One - 1895 Renaissance Revival style courthouse made of red Texas granite with a 1956 Mondern addition. Except for the clock tower, it resembles the Texas State Capital.
