COUNTY NAMED FOR: William Barret Travis, Texas commander at the battle of the Alamo.

COUNTY SEATS: One - Austin

COUNTY SEAT NAMED FOR: Stephen F. Austin, founder of Anglo-American Texas.

COURTHOUSES: Three - 1855, 1876, and 1930.

STANDING:  One - 1930 Modern courthouse built of limestone. Additions were completed in 1959 and 1962.
